IVG is committed to working with you and supporting you in your job. Especially when our hoses work in critical and dangerous conditions, such as docks or oil platforms. That is the reason we have prepared instructions to guide you in the installation, storage and maintenance of the hoses. To increase safety for you and your loading and unloading operations.
Today we will deal with maintenance and the importance of carrying out periodic checks on hoses and fittings. Weekly inspections, pre- and post-use checkups, visual examinations after a storm: these are our general guidelines that you should follow.
But what to check exactly? When to replace hoses in use?
Here is the list of minimal damage to look at:
- • leaks at the hose fitting or in the hose makeup;
- • damaged, cut or abraded covers;
- • exposure of reinforcement wires from the hose material;
- • signs of kinked, cracked or flattened areas in the hose section;
- • hose ends degraded, pitted or badly corroded at the fittings;
- • number of floatation collars on the hose string.
